Lillian Manley (1920-1928)

Maindy Stadium occupies the site of a large clay pit, locally known as Maindy Pool, which supplied the local brick works. During the early 1920s a natural spring was hit which flooded the basin. Local parents feared for the safety of their children, particularly after the death of Lillian Manley in August 1928, and the pool was eventually filled in.

Lillian was buried in Cathays Cemetery on 4th September 1928 in plot EG 814.
