Dr Robert James Smith (1873 - 1929)


Lord Mayor 1915.

Coroner for Cardiff 1924-1929.

In 1911 Robert James Smith was living at 32 Corproation Road. He was born in Midleton, Cork, Ireland, the son of the Rev. J. A. Smith M.A.

His qualifications were Irish Medical qualificaions as follows: Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of the Obstetric Art (MB BCh BAO).

He proved to be a very popular Lord Mayor sponsoring forty or fifty different funds inaugurated for various purposes with over £50,000 subscribed.

He died on 23 October 1929 and shares a grave with his twin sister Matilda Agnes Smith.
