Funeral of Mr John Rogers Cardiff

There was a very large attendance on Thursday at the funeral of Mr John Rogers, chairman of John Rogers (Limited), boaat builders, Cardiff, who died at Plymouth after a long illness. The coffin was covered with beautiful wreaths, among the contributors of the popular mark of respect being his brothers and sisters, the Cardiff employees, Mr amd Mrs Frank Fifoot. Mr and Mrs E Dobbins, "Aggie and Dorothy", and Mr J P Sharman. The funeral arrangements were satisfactorily carried out by Messrs S Andrews and Son, Working Street, Cardiff.

Funeral of Mrs Rogers, Cardiff.

The funeral of the late Mrs Eliza Rogers (widow of the late Mr J Rogers, boatbuilder) of No 13 Grenville Terrace, Cardiff, took place at the New Cemetery on Wednesday morning. It may be remembered by some of the inhabitants of the town that the late Mr Rogers took a prominent part in the building of Mount Stuart Square. There being but two residences when he undertook to erect the third, in which he resided for some time. It was at Mr Roger's house the first birth in Mounr Stuart Square took place, and the deceased gentleman, in order to commemorate the event, named the first-born John Stuart, who still carries on business at the Docks. The funeral cortege was a large one, being attended by a number of relatives and friends, the bearers being employes of Mr Rogers, jun. The Revs T Davies (bethel) and T Lee (broadway) officiated. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs G Stone and Co, No 11 Working Street, Cardiff.

M1413 Inscription: BENJAMIN ROGERS, died 29 August 1864 age 65. JOHN. His son, died 22 Oct 1875 age 49. ELIZABETH, wife of the above, John ROGERS, died 4 July 1897 age 72. WILLIAM B ROGERS, their second son, died 12 Feb 1900 age 34.
