Joseph Heald, Proprietor of the Cardiff Rolling Stock Company East Moors, Cardiff, Railway Wagon Builder, was born at Chorley, in Lancashire, where he served his time as a Millwright and Engineer. At twenty-one years of age he commenced business as Manufacturer of Steam Power Looms and Wagon Builder, but the latter business growing very rapidly, it was found necessary to establish branch works at Cardiff and Swansea in order to cope with the contracts for the repairs to wagons that came in from South Wales and Monmouthshire. Mr Heald has been a resident of Cardiff and Penarth for upwards of twenty years, and apart from his Wagon Manufacturing business in Cardiff is the Senior Partner in two other local firms doing an extensive business closely associated with his own.
