1926 Mr T. Allan Johnson, managing director of the Hills Dry Dock and Engineering Co of Cardiff, was elected by the Council as President of the Institute for the session of 1927.

Hills Dry Dock and Engineering Co had been set up in the early 1880's and was one of many such ship repair yards in Cardiff.
