DEATH OF JAGGER

Head of Cardiff School of Art Since 1918

Mr. Wilson Jagger head of the Cardiff School of Art. Technical College, Cardiff, has died at his home, Coley, Heath Park avenue. Cardiff, aged 64.

Mr. Jagger contracted a chill a few weeks ago, but was at the college recently as recently as Friday last.

A native of Yorkshire, he studied at the London Royal College of Art and was the winner of a number of silver and bronze medals between 1892 and 1896. He was also the winner of 15 national book prizes, with 12 "excellent" and 10 "first-class" results in examinations and the art master's certificate known at Groups I, II, IV and V.

After a short period as art master in Bradford Technical College he was appointed a teacher in the Cardiff School of Art in 1896 and became head in 1918 on the retirement of the late Mr. James Bush.

Mr Jagger had exhibited at the Royal Academy.

He is survived by his widow and a daughter, Dr Amy Jagger, who holds an appointment as medical officer under the Glamorgan County Council.
